'Link Aadhar no to bank account'

Express News Service

Domestic LPG Consumers have been requested to link their Aadhaar card numbers to the respective bank accounts so as to enable them to receive the subsidy proposed to be transferred directly to the bank accounts from June 1, 2013.

This appeal was made by the Indian Bank, the Lead Bank, at the state-level bankers meeting on May 27 with representatives of the oil marketing companies and LPG dealers to review the process of synchronising Aadhaar card numbers with the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, as part of the joint campaign by all banks.

Currently, there are 2,30,527 domestic consumers in Puducherry district, out of which only 69,158 have their bank accounts linked to their Aadhar cards, lead bank district manager T Parameswaran told Express.

Those who are yet to link can utilise any one of the methods to facilitate seeding of Aadhaar card number to the bank accounts. LPG consumers can submit a photocopy of the Aadhaar number intimation letter to the bank branch where they have account. They can also send the photocopies of Aadhaar number intimation letter, correctly mentioning the bank account details and account number through post to the bank branch or to the Lead district Manager, Indian Bank Zonal Office, 10 Kamaraj Salai, Puducherry 605 011, or through the drop box facility provided in bank branches, ATM centres and offices of the LPG dealers.

Domestic LPG Consumers who don’t have a bank account should open accounts with the bank of their choice and seed the Aadhaar number to the account, said officials.
