Schools in TN to reopen a week later

Schoolchildren, who complained that their holidays were drawing to an end, have reason for cheer. They may have to thank the prevailing heat wave, which has postponed the reopening of schools across the State by a week.

Academic year 2013-14, which was to commence on June 3, would now start on June 10, a circular issued by the Department of School Education said on Tuesday. The decision was made in the best interest of students, as they need not suffer inside classrooms in the stifling heat, the release added.
