18 activists held for protest against inflated power bills

Eighteen activists of the Pudhiya Jananayaga Thozhilalar Munnani, who staged a protest against the power tariff hike  near the Electricity Department’s Superintending Engineer office at Vampakeerapalayam, were arrested on Thursday.

They also protested against erroneous meter reading for domestic consumers, which reportedly resulted in inflated electricity bills. When they tried to restrain the police from picking them up, a mild lathicharge ensued.
