DMK biggies walk into AIADMK fold

Former DMK Minister Pulavar Senguttuvan, television newsreaders Fathima Babu and Nirmala Periyasamy and former MLA Tiruchy K Soundararajan were among those who joined the AIADMK in the presence of party supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday.

Former DMK Minister Pulavar Senguttuvan, television newsreaders Fathima Babu and Nirmala Periyasamy and former MLA Tiruchy K Soundararajan were among those who joined the AIADMK in the presence of party supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday. They received the membership cards from Jayalalithaa at her residence.

A few hours after they joined the AIADMK, Jayalalithaa, in a statement here said Fathima Babu and Nirmala Periyasamy had been added to the list of orators of the party. Nirmala Periyasamy is a well-known news anchor and has acted in small roles in a few films as well. 

Fathima Babu is a popular newsreader and has acted in many films and television serials.

P R Ganesan, leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Andaman unit, K Govindaraja Perumal, president, Ettaiyapuram Town Panchayat in Tuticorin district, and I Aabhitha Sheik, chairperson, Kayalpattinam municipality in Tuticorin district also joined the AIADMK on Monday.

A Vijaykumar, former vice-president, Thanjavur district Youth Congress, R Rajendran, leader of Cuddalore district Congress Thozhilalar union and SK Narendran of Dharapuram also joined the AIADMK.
