Ilayaraja Reaches Out to Rain-hit in Cuddalore

Music director Ilayaraja distributed relief materials to the people of the flood-hit Kumaratchi village, near Chidambaram, on Wednesday.

CHIDAMBARAM: Lending a helping hand to those affected by the recent deluge, music director Ilayaraja distributed relief materials to the people of the flood-hit Kumaratchi village, near Chidambaram, on Wednesday.

The relief materials were collected and brought to the village by the Makkal Sinthanai Peravai of Erode by Stalin Gunasekaran, the organiser of the Peravai. The materials consisted of bags of rice, grocery, cooking vessels, clothes, blankets and stationery items.

In all, about 300 people received the relief materials at Kamarajar Nagar of the village. Talking to reporters, Ilayaraja said “Volunteers from Makkal Sinthanai Peravai visited the flood-affected areas and found that the people of Kamaraj Nagar of Kumaratchi had not received adequate support, so they decided to help them”
