14 cops to be felicitated for service

CHENNAI: As many as 14 police officers, including Law and Order ADGP JK Tripathy, were selected for this year’s Chief Minister’s Police Medals in recognition of their excellent work in criminal investigation and public service.

The cops selected for the Chief Minister’s Police Medal for Excellence in Investigation on the occasion of Independence Day are: S Aravind, Additional SP, NIB CID, Chennai; N Silambarasan, DSP, Tindivanam Sub-Division, Villupuram; M Vivekanandan, DSP, Udumalpet, Sub-Division, Tiruppur; M Somasundaram, DSP, Vazhapaadi Sub-Division, Salem; S Sreemathy, Inspector of Police, Crime Branch-CID, Tiruppur; D Saravanakumar, Inspector of Police, Crime Branch-CID, Ramanathapuram; A Dharmalingam, Inspector of Police, Special Branch, Virudhunagar; T Jothi, Inspector of Police, Serious Crime Squad, Coimbatore City; and R Hemalatha, Inspector of Police, AWPS Jeeyapuram, Tiruchy.  The list of officers to receive the medals for Excellence in Public Service are: JK Tripathy, Additional DGP, Law and Order, Chennai; NK Senthamarai Kannan, IG, North Zone, Chennai; T Senthilkumar, DIG of Police, Thanjavur Range; NM Mayilvahanan, SP, Tiruvarur district; and S Baskar, DSP, Kumbakonam Sub-Division, Thanjavur district. The awards, consisting of a medal weighing eight grams of gold and a cash award of `5,000, will be presented by the CM at a special function, a release from Home Secretary said.
