CHENNAI: City police have registered a case against the owner and manager of a restaurant at Nungambakkam for allegedly serving customers food even at 1.30 am on Sunday and running the business despite police warning.
An investigation officer said on Sunday around 1.30 am a senior police officer was passing Mahalingapuram Main Road at Nungambakkam when he spotted youngsters standing in front of an eatery-Woodfired. They had parked their vehicles on the road causing hindrance.
Following his instructions, a team of police rushed to the spot and asked all the youngsters to leave the place immediately. “We had warned the manager to close the restaurant, as it was unsafe for customers, due to a spree in snatching incidents,” said the officer.
When the manager- S Sampath, 26, refused to close the restaurant, a case of public nuisance was filed against him and the owner of the restaurant Ashok, 35 of the same locality.
“We asked the restaurant to close as a preventive measure.
On Thursday also, a man lost `1,500 to bike-borne men. Keeping this in mind, we asked the hotel to close down early and send back their customer as they might become victims of chain and mobile snatchings,” the police officer said.
