CHENNAI: S Ramathilagam, R Tharani, P Rajamanickam, T Krishnavalli, R Pongiappan and R Hemalatha, who have been appointed as Additional judges of the Madras High Court a couple of days ago, were sworn-in at a simple ceremony at the High Court premises on Friday.
Chief Justice Indira Banerjee administered the oath of office to the new judges in the presence of the members of the Bench and the Bar.
With their induction, the strength of the Bench has increased to 60, against the sanctioned strength of 75.
Of them, 11 are women judges, including the Chief Justice, the highest ever in the Madras High Court. They are all service candidates.
Advocate-General Vijay Narayan, presidents of Advocates Association G Mohanakrishnan and Women Lawyers Association Nalini and others welcomed the new judges.
