CHENNAI: Firing a fresh salvo at the party leadership, Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, also AIADMK treasurer before being removed late last night, shot off a letter to banks asking them not to permit transactions in the party accounts by anyone without his written consent and instructions.

Though he was removed as party treasurer immediately after the revolt on Tuesday night, Panneerselvam refused to accept the ouster, citing party rules that office-bearers appointed by the general secretary would continue to hold office in her absence.

Quoting another rule that says a general secretary could be elected only by the cadre - not the general council as is the case with Sasikala - Panneerselvam had contended that his ouster by an interim general secretary was not valid.
