Over 250 flyers stranded in Tiruchy as 2 flights get delayed

At least 250 passengers to Sharjah and Dubai were stranded at the Tiruchy International Airport after both the flights weredelayed due to inclement weather.

TIRUCHY : At least 250 passengers to Sharjah and Dubai were stranded at the Tiruchy International Airport after both the flights weredelayed due to inclement weather. Even as Air India Express made arrangements for accommdation at a marriage hall nearby, the irked passengers picked up an argument with airline authorities.


According to sources, the  Air India Express flight from Dubai arrived around 12.10 am and was supposed to leave around 1.20 am. But because of inclement weather, the 160 odd passengers were made to wait in the lobby. 


In a few hours, passengers booked to Sharjah arrived for the 3.40 am flight. But the Air India Express flight did not make it resulting in the huge crowd at the terminal area Over 250 passengers were present in the terminal and the officials did not give any confirmed information causing confusion. 


After a few hours all passengers to Dubai and Sharjah were put in a bus and accommodated in a marriage hall in a hotel. Eventually, the Dubai flight left around 8.45 am carrying 160 passengers. 


However the Sharjah flight did not make it to the Airport due to the rough weather and arrived only  in the evening. The passengers made to wait at the hotel were taken to the Airport in the evening . The flight carrying 138 members left at around 5.15 pm.  The complaining passengers urged the airline authorities to come up with a complete redress system to address such issues.
