CHENNAI: A delegation of opposition leaders led by DMK working president MK Stalin called on Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Friday and demanded his intervention on Cauvery river water dispute.

The leaders submitted a memorandum regarding the issue, after the end of a six-day Cauvery Rights Retrieval March. "We demand you to use your constitutional office to convey the sentiments of Tamil Nadu people to Govt of India," they urged.

Moreover, they sought the Centre to constitute CMB without waiting till May 3 and wanted the Centre to withdraw the clarificatory petition filed before the apex court.

Talking to reporters after the 40-minute meeting with the Governor, Stalin said next course of action would be decided in the next two days. He ridiculed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for handing a memorandum to the Prime Minister on the vital issue in a casual manner at the airport.
