Madras High Court directs 'Nagesh Thiraiarangam' producers to carry explanatory note

The judge had in October last year vacated an interim injunction restraining Transindia Media from using the name Nagesh Thiraiarangam.

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed makers of Tamil feature film Nagesh Thiraiarangam, which is scheduled to be released tomorrow (February 16), to issue advertisements prominently mentioning that the movie is not directly or indirectly related to either film personality (the late) CK Nagesh or his erstwhile Nagesh Theatre.

Justice CV Karthikeyan gave the directive while passing orders on an application arising out of a civil suit from N Anand Babu, son of the popular comedian, to restrain Transindia Media and Entertainment Pvt Ltd, producer and Isaq alias Mohamed Issac, director of the film, from using/exploiting the name Nagesh or Nagesh Theatre.

In all the advertisements in newspapers, in which the film is advertised, filmmakers should mention prominently that the movie is not related to either film personality CK Nagesh or his theatre, the judge said. They should also put a scroll display and footnote stating the same, the bench added.
