THANJAVUR: The Cauvery Rights Retrieval Committee (CRRC), the umbrella organisation of farmers associations and political parties, on Thursday said the outcome of the all party meeting held over the Cauvery issue was disappointing. Talking to media persons P Maniyarasan, the coordinator of the CRRC said if the meeting had passed resolutions about the negative impacts of the SC judgement on Tamil Nadu and the ways to get redress for the same, it would have given solace.
He pointed out that the meeting did not broach about the silence of the Prime Minister who was silent about the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamaiah’s statement that the state would oppose the setting up of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
The CRRC coordinator pointed out the Cauvery water dispute was basically over the sharing of the surface water flowing in the Cauvery river and not about the ground water. Hence the Cauvery case should be transferred to a seven member constitution bench of Supreme Court said Maniyarasan.
