CHENNAI: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday chaired a high-level meeting on the Cauvery issue in which the points to be raised by Tamil Nadu during the first meeting of the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) scheduled to be held at New Delhi on July 2 were discussed.
A power point presentation was made on the present water storage in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and the water requirement for Kuruvai crop in delta districts. So far, only surplus water from the dams in Karnataka due to good rains during southwest monsoon, is reaching Tamil Nadu.
Karnataka is yet to release the actual water due to Tamil Nadu as per the monthly schedules. This would be raised at the first meeting and Tamil Nadu would demand immediate release of water as per the schedule.
