Another death due to swine flu in Madurai

The deceased woman, Mariammal of Malaiyadipatti village in Rajapalayam of Virudhunagar district, who had fever, was initially admitted at the government hospital in Rajapalayam.

MADURAI: A 62-year-old woman from Rajapalayam succumbed to swine flu at a private hospital in the city here on Sunday night. In another incident, a 11-year-old girl from Thiru Nagar succumbed to viral fever at a private hospital here.  

According to sources, the deceased woman, Mariammal of Malaiyadipatti village in Rajapalayam of Virudhunagar district, who had fever, was initially admitted at the government hospital in Rajapalayam. She was later shifted to Meenakshi Mission Hospital here where she was treated for swine flu after she tested positive of the influenza infection. Mariammal however succumbed to the infection on Sunday night while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, 11-year-old S Aishwaya who was a resident of Mangammal Street in Thirunagar near Tiruparankundram. She who was suffering from viral fever was being treated at a private hospital in the city. However, the girl who was a class V student died late evening on Sunday.
