CHENNAI: AIADMK Whip S Rajendran on Tuesday filed a caveat before the Supreme Court, anticipating that the 18 disqualified MLAs might challenge the verdict of the Madras High Court delivered on October 25.

Just after the Madras HC verdict upholding the disqualification of 18 MLAs was out, they said they would be challenging the verdict before the Supreme Court. Within a day, there was rethink in their party.
AMMK deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran said the disqualified MLAs would seek the views of the people of their constituencies on what to do - whether to move the SC or accept the verdict and face the by-election. Dhinakaran also said a decision would be taken within a few days.

Meanwhile, the rooms occupied by the disqualified MLAs at the MLAs quarters in Omandurar Estate in Chennai were locked and sealed by the Assembly Secretariat.  The orders were passed by Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan.  He said as per order notified on September 18, 2017, the 18 MLAs were disqualified and they were not entitled to any of the facilities provided for MLAs.  Since they failed to vacate their rooms, the rooms have been sealed.

The Assembly Secretary further said the disqualified MLAs could take their belongings in the rooms after informing the official concerned and they should pay the rental dues.
