ED conducts searches at 10 places across Tamil Nadu in illegal sand mining probe

According to sources, the premises belonging to Aadhav Arjun, son-in-law of 'lottery king' Santiago Martin was among those searched.

CHENNAI: Around 10 premises were searched by the Enforcement Directorate across the state on Saturday in a money laundering investigation linked to alleged illegal sand mining. According to sources, the premises belonging to Aadhav Arjun, son-in-law of 'lottery king' Santiago Martin was among those searched. However, ED sources refused to comment on the searches.

Martin has already been probed by the agency in another money laundering case that stems from a CBI case against him and others for alleged offences relating to the sale of lotteries of the Sikkim government, a release said. Martin, known as the 'lottery king', and his company-- Future Gaming Solutions India Pvt. Ltd.-- was stated to be the master distributor of Sikkim lotteries.

As part of the statewide search, ED officials on Saturday searched the premises belonging to the owner of a car showroom at Ramanathapuram in Coimbatore city.

According to sources, the house belongs to Anish Pressena S, a joint managing director of a leading automobile showroom. The search began in the morning and continued for more than six hours.

A group of around 15 officials were engaged in the search but did not reveal details about the operation.
