CHENNAI: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has released its manifesto for the Assembly elections. The party has strongly criticised the union government and placed focus on jobs, social justice and state rights. The manifesto raised concerns about unemployment, price hikes and the impact of GST. It stated that small and medium-sized industries have been severely hit, while large corporations are gaining more power.

The CPI said many voters were removed from electoral rolls without proper time to verify or appeal. It also accused the centre of weakening democratic values and promoting divisive politics based on religion and caste.

On education, the party opposed multiple entrance exams and said they make it hard for poor students to continue with higher studies. It also criticised the National Education Policy. It also accused the centre of delaying funds for disaster relief and key projects in TN.

The manifesto promised more job opportunities for youth and protection of workers’ rights. It proposed a minimum wage of `26,000 per month and regularisation of contract workers. Overall, the CPI said its aim is to protect TN’s rights, ensure equality and provide a better life for all sections of society. It urged voters to support secular and democratic forces in the upcoming elections.
