Fever Scare Grips Adilabad as 12 Die in Outbreak

ADILABAD:The arrival of rains have lead to an outbreak of seasonal diseases in the district, triggering panic in the urban areas and villages. According to reports, 12 people have succumbed to seasonal diseases in the district. Hospital have reported an increase in arrival of fever patients. While the spread of diaeases has panicked the public, the authorities are blaming the government for its failure to release funds. Replying to a query on preventive measures to check spread of diseases, Health department officials said that both the State and Centre have not yet released funds for providing sanitation and water.

As many as 10 people have died due to viral fevers while two persons succumbed to dengue in the district during the season.

Speaking to Express, district Medical and Health officer (DM&HO) Rukmini said: ”We used to get `10,000 for each village under every primary health centre (PHC) limits, to meet expenses of sanitation from the Union government. But so far, it has not been released.”

While a total of 497 malaria positive cases have been registered, diarrhea cases touched an all time high of high 32,246. Dengue, Chickungunya and other diseases are also spreading in the Agency areas including Jainoor, Narnoor, Sirpur (U), Sirpur (T), Kerameri, Kotapelly and Uttnoor.

Meanwhile, a team of doctors from Hyderabad visited Jainoor mandal and treated 675 persons. They also visited some other mandals.
