NALGONDA : The half-starved little kid was eagerly waiting in a queue for his turn to have midday meal in his school. But fate willed otherwise. The five-year-old boy died after falling in a vessel of hot sambar which was being prepared for mid-day meal.

The tragic  incident happened at Eduluru village in Nalgonda district on Friday afternoon.
According to officials, B Jayavardhan, a class 1 student of government primary school in Eduluru of Kattangoor mandal in Nalgonda district,  was standing in the queue along with others to have his midday meal. Some of students pushed  Jayavardhan from behind and he fell into the hot sambar container, which was close to him.


The boy, who suffered 70 per cent burns,  was initially taken to a government  hospital in Nalgonda and later shifted to  Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad when his condition turned serious.  The boy succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, police said. 


District collector Gaurav Uppal visited the village and announced an ex gratia of `2 lakh, a government job and a double bedroom house to the family of the deceased boy. The head mistress of the school Uma Rani and midday meals in charge teacher Murali Krishna have been suspended for their negligent behaviour.
Villagers of Eduluru, CPM workers and students’ organisations staged a dharna demanding `10 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased boy. 


Following a complaint by the family, a case of negligence was filed with Katangoor police station.
