Probe into Nayeem cases nearing end

HYDERABAD: Investigation into the illegal activities of slain gangster Mohammed Nayeemuddin and his henchmen, in Nalgonda and Bhongir, is nearing completion. Sources told Express that Nayeem and his gang members had indulged in illegal activities mostly in Bhongir and Nalgonda districts. Of the 217 cases of land grab, murder, extortion and other offences registered so far, a majority are from the two districts. 

The SIT is understood to have finished almost 80 per cent of the probe and is likely to prepare charge sheets in the case. SIT officials are cross-checking  the documents and the statements of the accused and witnesses. Around 130 persons were arrested and the police took into custody a number of accused on prisoner transit (PT) warrant and grilled them. Around 880 witnesses were examined and their statements recorded by SIT officials.
