HYDERABAD: Several top schools of the city gave the meeting called to discuss security in schools a miss on Friday. The meeting of schools and parents association was called by the commissioner of school education G Kishan.Demand for safety audits in all schools and parents involvement in the process was also met with resistance by the schools. Instead, they have asked for the appointment of a nodal officer who can visit the schools and submit a report, which will be made available only to schools and the government.
“It is reprehensible and perhaps indicative of the schools’ abominable attitude that the parents should not have information about the security apparatus in schools,” said Ashish Naredi, a parent. Hyderabad Schools Parents Association (HSPS) demanded that if not the schools, then the government must shoulder the responsibility to ensure the safety of children in the schools it gives license to operate.While the state government, CBSE and CICSE have all issued directives to all schools on undertaking the safety audit, there is no clarity on what will be the outcome if these guidelines are flouted.
App to tackle Blue Whale Challenge?
To tackle the Blue Whale Challenge issue, Jayesh Ranjan, State IT secretary, sought solution in an app called Nischint. Earlier launched by KT Rama Rao, IT minister, the app is said to not just block any links to the game but also alerts the parents that their child was trying to access the Blue Whale link.
