HYDERABAD: At a time when all political parties are speculating on the possibility of early polls, BJP national president Amit Shah on Friday told his partymen in Telangana that Lok Sabha elections would not be advanced.
Thus, he has put an end to the ongoing speculation over the possibility of concurrent polls being held to the Lok Sabha and some Assemblies of States like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Odisha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
“Amit Shah told us that general election would not be advanced and that it would be held as per schedule. He asked us to strengthen the party in the State by 2019,” party Telangana State general secretary G Premender Reddy told newsmen soon after Shah had held a series of meetings with RSS and BJP leaders here. Party national committee member Perala Shekhar Rao said Shah had told them that the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya would begin prior to the general election.
Against the general perception in political circles that the BJP is going soft on the ruling TRS, party MLC N Ramachandra Rao told Express that Shah had asked the State unit to step up attack on the K Chandrasekhar Rao government. “Our party’s national boss told us that there was rampant corruption in the state under KCR’s family rule and asked us to campaign aggressively against the TRS government to expose its failures and corruption. Our only aim is to defeat the TRS and establish BJP rule,” he said.
