HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy announced on Sunday that the Telugu Desam would sail with the Congress in Telangana and the two parties together would win about 100 Assembly seats in the elections next next year.

With general election less than a year away, the state Congress has stepped up its campaign to drive home the point  that it was the Congress government at the Centre that had carved out the Telangana state.
“Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu is joining us (Congress). Together, we will win 100 seats and the Congress will form the government in the state,” Reddy said while addressing a gathering at Boduppal here.

Several TRS and TDP leaders joined the Congress at the venue in the presence of Uttam Kumar Reddy.
“The people of Telangana now realise that the TRS government is a complete failure on all fronts. Corruption has increased manifold. People are also realising that the TRS’ claim that it was instrumental securing statehood for Telangana is false and that it was the Congress that facilitated creation of the new state.’’

The state Congress chief slammed chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for not making a Dalit as chief minister.

“After the state was formed, KCR had announced that a Dalit would be made the first CM. Believing him, the Dalits of Telangana voted for him. But he cheated them by going back on his word,’’ he said and alleged that KCR was working only for the aggrandisement of his family members.

The crowd cheered as former Union minister Sarve Satyanarayana said that Uttam Kumar Reddy would be the next chief minister.

“If elections were held today, we would win 100 Assembly seats. Uttam Kumar Reddy will be the next CM of Telangana and I want to work (as a minister) in Rahul Gandhi’s cabinet,’’ Sarve Satyanarayana said.

The Congress leader also referred to a survey which, according to him, predicted that Rahul Gandhi would be the next prime minister. “I want to be member of Rahul Gandhi’s cabinet,’’ he said with a smile.
