HYDERABAD: The State Human Rights Commission served notices to the Ramagundam police commissioner, asking him to submit a report on the alleged police excess on a person from Godavarikhani town. The commission ordered him to submit a report by December 19, after a person complained to the commission, stating that he was assaulted by the Godavarikhani I town Circle Inspector (CI) Vasudevarao and his gunman Gopi on the night of Dasara.

N Kiran in his petition stated, he along with his friend Pulipaka Rajkumar went to the DCP point, to hire a vehicle for Bathukamma immersion. While they were discussing about the vehicle rent with the driver, a vehicle approached them from rear. The CI’s gunman alighted from the vehicle and caned him, injuring him in the thigh. When he questioned about why the gunman caned him, the CI alighted from the vehicle and abused them.

“When the gunman tried to force me into the vehicle, my friend told that he is a junior advocate, after which they left us.” Kiran said. Two days later when Kiran, along with his mother and friend, approached the ACP to lodge a complain, the ACP replied sarcastically. When asked for a copy of the complaint, he told to collect it from police station, Kiran said.
