NALGONDA: Heavy rainfall over the past week in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts has triggered a sharp rise in inflows into the Musi River, causing flood-like conditions in parts of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. Riverbed villages in Valmikipuram, Ramannapet and nearby mandals are on alert as the Bhimalingam Katwa project near Sangem continues to overflow.
Floodwaters have submerged the low-level bridge connecting Bollepally and Sangem villages, bringing traffic to a complete halt. Authorities have stopped movement across the bridge due to strong currents. Police and revenue officials have erected barricades on both sides of the bridge and deployed personnel to prevent commuters from approaching the flooded stretch.
Officials have advised residents to use alternative routes and warned farmers and fishermen against entering floodwaters or taking cattle near the riverbanks. The Water Resources department said discharge in the Musi could increase further if rainfall continues in the upstream catchment areas.
