Warangal gears up for three-day Orugallu Kala Vaibhavam festival

WARANGAL: The historic city of Warangal is getting ready for three-day Orugallu Kala Vaibhavam fest starting on June 16 in Hanamkonda. Entertainment programmes, folk dances, dramas, music, short films and other attractions await the people.


The fest would highlight the rich culture and traditions of Warangal and its past glory. Prominent historians, archaeologists and poets would also present talks on the history, traditions and culture of Warangal, which has a history of over 2000 years. Seminars on history, art and literature would be organised besides an art exhibition. Paintings of artists, stone and wood sculptures and other artwork related to Warangal would be displayed.


Chairman of Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) and former professor Y Sudershan Rao and noted archaeologist and historian Emani Sivanagi Reddy are expected to participate in the seminars.
The three-day extravaganza would also have short films, dance, music and skit competitions for budding artistes. About 50 short films have been shortlisted for screening during the festival. Noted film directors would present talks on film making and also answer the queries from budding film makers.

Meanwhile, people are questioning the timing of the fest as they feel that since schools and colleges have just reopened and pre-Monsoon rains have started, students would not be able to enjoy the festival.
