Sanae Takaichi's LDP party sweeps Winter Snap polls, World leaders congratulate her

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's party secured a two-thirds supermajority in a key parliamentary election Sunday. Takaichi’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) secured 316 seats surpassing a 261-seat absolute majority in the 465-member lower house

This marks a record since the party's foundation in 1955. This win wil lay the ground work of Takaichi's plan to make a significant shift to the right in Japan’s security, immigration and other policies

Prime Minster Narendra Modi also congratulated Takaichi for the "landmark" result. US President Donald Trump congratulated Takaichi on the victory, calling her a "highly respected and very popular" leader.
