VIJAYAWADA: John Thomas took charge as Additional General Manager (AGM), South Central Railway (SCR) on Tuesday. He succeeded Anil Kumar Gupta, who has been promoted and posted as General Manager, Western Railway.
John Thomas belongs to 1982 batch of Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE). He started his career in Indian Railways in 1984 and in over three decades of service, he had held several important posts in various zones including Southern, Central and South Central Railway.
Commencing his service as assistant electrical engineer on Southern Railway in 1986, John Thomas went on to serve several important posts including divisional electrical engineer, senior divisional electrical engineer/deputy chief electrical engineer, additional divisional railway manager, Chennai, chief electrical loco engineer, chief projects manager (Railway Electrification), Chennai, divisional railway manager, Sholapur, Central Railway.
He also served as chief safety officer, southern railway. Prior to the new posting, John Thomas was serving as chief electrical engineer, South Central Railway.
