COLOMBO: The current movement in Tamil Nadu in support of the Tamils’ struggle in Sri Lanka will have a special and indelible place in the history of the struggle in general and the history of the LTTE in particular, the LTTE has said.
Condoling the death of the Tamil Nadu activist Muthukumar who had immolated himself in Chennai protesting against the “genocide” of the Tamils in north Sri Lanka, the LTTE’s political wing hailed the young journalist as a “brave son of Tamil”.
Muthukumar’s sacrifice would find a place in the history of the world’s Tamils.
The on-going movement in Tamil Nadu had awakened the conscience of the international community and given comfort and encouragement to the Tamils’ struggle in Sri Lanka, the LTTE said.
PATHMANATHAN HEAD OF INTERNATIONAL WING: The LTTE has appointed Selvaraja Pathmanathan as the head of its newly created Department of International Relations. He succeeds the late Anton Balasingham who, living in London, represented the LTTE in its international relations from the very beginning of the militant movement till his death.
According to B Nadesan, the head of the LTTE’s Political Wing, armed with the authority of the LTTE’s top leadership, Pathmanathan would interact with the international community in any future peace process.
NAVAL CLASH: The Sea Tigers, the LTTE’s naval wing, and the Lankan navy, clashed off the Mullaitivu coast on Friday. While the Lankan navy said that it had destroyed an LTTE suicide boat, the Sea Tigers said that they had destroyed one of the commando boats of the navy.
