NEW YORK: Major League Baseball slapped Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Roberto Osuna with a 75-game suspension Friday after he violated the league's domestic violence policy.

The suspension is retroactive to May 8, the day of his arrest, and runs until August 4, the league said in a news release.

It said Osuna, of Mexico, has agreed not to appeal the suspension and he will participate in a treatment program supervised by the joint policy board of MLB and the players' association.

Toronto police have charged Osuna, 23, with assaulting a woman.

He had been on paid administrative leave by MLB since his arrest.

Osuna appeared in just over 15 innings for Toronto this season, allowing 16 hits, five runs and one walk.

In April he became the youngest pitcher in Major League Baseball history to record 100 career saves.
