The Tamil Nadu CM announced the decision when India saw over 11,000 novel coronavirus cases being added to the tally for the third consecutive day on Monday, taking the total number of infections to over 3.32 lakh. The death toll in the country now stands at 9,520 with 325 more deaths, the Health Ministry said.

There are 1,53,106 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), while 1,69,797 people have recovered and a patient has migrated, according to the ministry data updated in the morning.

In all, 51.08 per cent of the patients have recovered so far.

The number of confirmed cases rose to 3,32,424 with 11,502 new infections in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.

India is the fourth worst-hit nation by the pandemic after the US, Brazil and Russia.

    COVID-19 cases in Uttarakhand rose to 1,845 on Monday with 26 more people testing positive for the virus, officials said. Of the fresh cases, six were reported from Dehradun, three each from Tehri, Rudraprayag, Pauri and Nainital, two each from Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Haridwar, and one each from Almora and Uttarkashi, a state health department bulletin said.

    5 doctors test positive in Muzaffarnagar

    Eight more people, including five doctors, tested positive for coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, taking the total number of active cases in the district to 106, an official said on Monday. The five resident doctors of Muzaffarnagar Medical College and Hospital who tested positive for the virus were not working in the COVID ward of the hospital, the official said.

    ITBP personnel among 44 cases in Chhattisgarh

    The number of COVID-19 cases in Chhattisgarh rose to 1,715 on Monday after 44 more people, including two Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel, tested positive, a health official said. Besides, an elderly COVID-19 patient died at a hospital here, taking the number of fatalities in the state to nine, he said.

    Telangana: Another TRS MLA tests positive

    Another ruling TRS MLA tested positive for COVID-19 in Telangana on Monday, taking the number of party legislatorsinfected by the virus to three. The MLA had mingled with the legislator who was found positive earlier, TRS sources said.

    Centre forms 3 teams to inspect Delhi hospitals

    The central government on Monday constituted three teams of experts to inspect COVID care facilities and patient care services in the national capital and suggest measures to improve them. The teams have been directed to submit their report to the Secretary of the Union Health Ministry and the Delhi Chief Secretary by Wednesday.

    TN health committee warns of second wave

    Ladakh tally at 555

    Six more people tested positive for coronavirus in Ladakh on Monday, taking the COVID-19 tally in the Union Territory to 555, health department officials said. Three persons each tested positive for the pathogen in the twin districts of Leh and Kargil, they said. While one person died of novel disease in Ladakh, 82 others have been cured, the officials said, adding that the condition of all the 472 active patients is stated to be "stable".

    Haryana reports 12 more deaths

    Haryana reported 12 more coronavirus deaths, six of these from the hardest-hit Gurgaon district, taking the toll in the state to 100 on Monday, while the number of cases saw the highest single-day spike at 514, according to a government bulletin. Now, the number of positive cases in the state stands at 7,722.

    182 fresh cases in Jammu & Kashmir

    Three more people died due to COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday while 182 fresh cases were recorded, taking the tally to 5,223 in the Union Territory, officials said. The three fatalities have been reported from the Kashmir valley. With this, the death toll has reached 63 in J-K, they said.

    Pune issues home isolation guidelines for asymptomatic persons

    Patients will have to sign an affidavit that has been issued along with the circular on guidelines. "There is a government decision dated June 6 on home isolation of asymptomatic patients. As per the decision, we have given permission for home isolation for such patients and issued detailed guidelines," Pune Divisional Commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar said.

    Dath toll rises to 485 in West Bengal

    At least 10 people afflicted with COVID-19 died in West Bengal on Monday, taking the toll in the state to 485, the health department said. Of the 10, eight died due to comorbidities, where COVID-19 was "incidental", it said. As many as 407 more people tested positive for the viral disease in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of such cases to 11,494, the department said in its bulletin.

    Delhi reports 1,647 fresh cases

    Gujarat count tops 24,000

    Gujarat reported 514 new coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the count to 24,104, while the death toll rose to 1,506 with 28 new fatalities, the state health department said. As 339 more patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, the number of recoveries in the state rose to 16,672, the department said.

    28 fresh cases take Goa tally to 592

    Eleven people were discharged after recovery, taking the total of such cases to 85, leaving the state with 507 active cases, an official said. "Of the 1,173 samples tested, 28 were positive, 835 were negative while 310 reports are still awaited. Fresh cases have come in from New Vaddem, Baina and Sada in Vasco town of South Goa and Morlem and Chimbel in North Goa," he added.

    As many as 156 Indian nationals stranded in Sri Lanka were flown back home on Monday under the third phase of a mega evacuation exercise.     Maharashtra to restart classes

    Classes for standards IX, X in schools located in non-red zone areas and junior college for XII would begin in Maharashtra from July 1, the state government said on Monday. Classes of 6th to 8th standards would begin from August, as per the government. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and attended by School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad and officials.

    In Chennai's COVID-19 battle, 37 containment zones active for over a month take centre stage

    Of the 369 COVID-19 containment zones in Chennai, 37 have been active for more than a month, giving a tough time for officials trying to contain the spread there. As per the new classification, if a containment zone does not have positive cases for at least 14 days, then it can be denotified. Earlier, till May 18, the denotification criteria used to be 28 days. As per the data, Royapuram alone has eight hotspots which have been active for more than a month. Officials said that containing the spread in the slums here is a huge challenge.

    AP sees highest single-day COVID-19 spike with 304 new cases; deaths rise to 86

    1,974 fresh cases, 38 deaths: Tamil Nadu records highest singe-day toll

    Tamil Nadu reported 38 Covid deaths on Sunday, the highest ever on a day. The Statewide death toll now stands at 435, with 128 of them (29.4 per cent) being reported during the past five days. There were a whopping 1,974 fresh cases in the State, taking the tally to 44,661, while Chennai recorded 1,415 cases, taking its total to 30,444.

    Karnataka hit the 7,000-mark with 176 new coronavirus cases and the toll reached 86 with five more deaths on Sunday. The state now has 2,956 active cases. Three of the deceased were from Bengaluru, one was from Dakshina Kannada and another from Bidar.

    Haryana reports 10 deaths

    Haryana reported ten more coronavirus-related deaths on Sunday, six of these from the hardest-hit Gurgaon district, while total COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 7,208, a health bulletin said. The total number of COVID-19-related fatalities in the state now stands at 88, it said.

    Telangana reports 237 new cases

    Telangana continued to witness a spike in COVID-19 cases with 237 fresh cases and three deaths reported on Sunday,taking the tally of positive cases in the state to 4,974 and the toll to 185. Out of the fresh cases confirmed, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for 195 cases followed by Medchal 10, Rangareddy 8, Sangareddy five cases.

    Delhi sees over 10,000 fresh coronavirus cases in six days

    The number of coronavirus cases climbed by over 10,000 and breached the 40,000-mark in just six days in Delhi with an average of over 1,600 fresh cases on a daily basis, a sharp spike from the 79 days it took to reach the 10,000-mark, according to a data analysis done by the city government. It took eight days for the number of cases to rise from 20,000 to 30,000, while the national capital took 13 days for the tally to progress from 10,000 to 20,000.

    COVID-19 cases in Nashik district near 2,000

    The number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra's Nashik district rose by 93 on Sunday to 1,973, a district official said. The death toll reached to 121 with three more deaths being added to the overall count of the deceased patients, he said.

    Senior UP Police officer tests positive

    The Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh has tested  positive for COVID-19, a senior official said on Sunday. District Surveillance Officer Ranjan Gautam said, "In the report received on Sunday evening, 10 persons have tested COVID-19 positive, including the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime).

    Chhattisgarh cases rise by 113 to 1,662

    With 113 new COVID-19 cases, Chhattisgarh's overall count increased to 1,662 on Sunday while the number of fatalities rose to eight, after two more persons succumbing to the viral infection in the last 24 hours, a Health official said.

    With 12 fatalities, death toll rises to 475 in West Bengal

    Twelve more persons died of COVID-19 in West Bengal on Sunday, taking the death toll due to the disease to 475 in the state, a health department bulletin said. Eleven of the 12 deaths were because of "comorbidities, where COVID-19 was incidental", it added.

    Assam crosses 4,000-mark

    The number of coronavirus cases in Assam breached the 4,000-mark with 149 more people testing positive for the pathogen on Sunday, Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. With this, the COVID-19 tally rose to 4,049 in the state, he said.
