Arun Vijay to pack a punch

Things seem to be falling in place for actor Arun Vijay who is trying hard for a firm footing in Kollywood. His next offering, Thadayara Thaakka, seems to have all it takes- be it some rocking action sequences and sensational music- to catapult the actor’s fame.

It is now well-known that the actor has crooned for the flick with the veteran LR Easwari, music for which has been composed by Thaman. “The whole movie (Thadaiyara Thaakka) is on a serious note and we had already planned this song as relief. It is a peppy number, but there is a lead to the song and it comes with a purpose. A famous actress will dance for the number,” says Arun Vijay. “The song starts like Poondha mallee dhan... Pushpa vallli dhan and I had gone to watch the recording one day. Thaman asked me to give singing a try and surprisingly, retained my voice,” says Arun Vijay. There are four other songs, which are complete melodies, according to him.

After the success of his last two commercial flicks, Maanja Velu and Malai Malai, Arun Vijay says he has been waiting for the right city-based script and that’s how he and director Magizh Thirumeni came together. “He was an assistant to Gautham Menon and Thadaiyara Thaakka is an action thriller. I got completely glued to the script as soon as he narrated it to me,” says Arun. Despite maintaining a six-pack physique, the actor- it seems- has no opportunity to flaunt it in the film. “I had developed it for a cop film, but later chose to act in Thadaiyara Thakka, which requires only a well-built man. This is why we decided against flaunting  it in the film, though it could be visible incidentally,” Arun Vijay reasons.

The actor plays a left-handed person in the flick. “I had to train myself to act like a left-hander,” he says.

   Arun Vijay also says the flick’s actress Mamta Mohandas is ravishing while other actress Rakul Preet Singh’s character is a complete suspense element. Thadaiyara Thaakka is slated for release this summer.
