Ghat road works at Kondaveedu Fort resume

GUNTUR: The ghat road works at Kondaveedu Fort have resumed at Edlapadu mandal in Guntur district on Saturday. It may be mentioned here that the failure of the government to clear the contractors’ bills has led to works on the 5.1 km ghat road to the ancient Kondaveedu Fort, being stopped in the final phase, cutting off tourists from the historical monument.

Kondaveedu Fort Development Committee convener K Siva Reddy inspected the ghat road works at Kondaveedu Fort on Saturday. He said that the committee had taken the issue to the notice of Civil Supplies Minister P Pulla Rao. The Minister urged the government to take steps to complete the works before commencement of Kondaveedu Fort festival in March, 2018. He instructed officials to complete the works within three weeks. He said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the Kondaveedu festival and added that the government is aiming at developing ecotourism in the State to attract tourists.
