NELLORE: State BJP general secretary Sannapureddy Suresh Reddy has demanded the government to declare health emergency in the district keeping in view the high incidence of viral fevers and other diseases. Suresh Reddy submitted a memorandum to DM&HO C Varasundaram here on Tuesday in this regard. He also urged the DM&HO to visit Primary Health Centres across the district to know the situation in villages.

Speaking to mediapersons later, the BJP State general secretary said the panchayat and municipal authorities failed to improve sanitation in rural and urban areas to check the spread of diseases. They also failed to ensure supply of protected water to people to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases, he said.
Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana along with District Collector R Mutyala Raju should conduct a high-level meeting with Panchayat Raj, revenue and municipal officials and direct them to take all measures to control the spread of viral fevers, he said.
