GUNTUR: The police arrested former home guard Tummala Vijaya Kumar alias Uday Kiran alias Kiran and seized `1.2 lakh under Karampudi police station limits in Guntur district on Friday. According to Karampudi SI Narayana Swamy, former home guard Uday Kiram targeted innocent people coming to ATM kiosks to withdraw money.
The accused offered help to the aged ATM card holders. He would replace their ATM card with another on the pretext of helping them. Subsequently, he withdrew money by using stolen ATM cards.
Hailing from Narasaraopet, he joined as a home guard in Hyderabad in 2006 and worked till 2012. During that time, he stole ATM card from an accused, while shifting him from Chenchalguda Jail to Cherlapalli Jail. From then onwards, he started making easy money through ATM cards by targeting innocent people.
