Fiat is all prepared to launch the Sporty Abarth Punto Evo hatch in the Indian market on 19th of October 2015. A lot is happening in the company this year and it will be surely going to be a big year for the car maker. Fiat introduced the Abarth brand with its new 595 Competizione, but this Punto EVO is the product that will make the Abarth more popular in the country. With the launch, Punto EVO will compete against Volkswagen Polo GT TSI in the segment. The company is also planning to bring new models in the market like Abarth Avventura after Punto EVO while it will feature the similar engine carried by latter.
Fiat has officially started taking booking for the Abarth Punto. The booking amount for the hot hatch is about INR 50,000 and the expected price will be below 10 lac mark. The vehicle was revealed for the first time at the launch of 595 Competizione. The new Punto will become the most powerful and quickest hatch in the country.
Talking about the design, Abarth Punto EVO gets sporty appeal which looks quite like its sibling hatch. The recent images revealed shows the vehicle in black color with red decals on it. The front façade of the Punto EVO will feature aggressive radiator grille with thick chrome surrounding, big fog lamps and get thick metallic accents. The hot hatch features new set of stylish alloy wheels with Abarth emblem on it and neatly crafted wheel arches, all that distinguishes it from the regular version. On the rear, it will get a pair of reflectors and attractive design. Dimensionally, Punto will measure about 3989 mm in length, 1687 mm in width, 1505 mm in height and the wheelbase of 2510 mm.
Stepping inside, new Abarth Punto EVO gets impressive interiors while the car maker has chosen a sporty theme for the vehicle. The cabin has a contemporary design with metallic finish on it while the dashboard is quite smooth. The steering wheel is three spoke and also tilt adjustable with fine quality leather used for covering. Other features included in the vehicle are air conditioning unit, integrated audio system that may have radio tuner, high-quality speakers and CD player. Punto EVO might get Blue and Me connectivity that is specially designed for audio streaming and call functions. Seats are very comfortable with the driver’s seat height adjustable.
The car will work on the 1.4-liter T-JET turbo engine that is capable of producing the power output of 145 bhp and peak torque of 212 Nm. The mill is coupled with 5-speed manual transmission while the car can go from 0-100 kmph mark in mere 8.8 seconds. Punto EVO gives mileage figure of about 16.3 kmpl.
Besides this, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India (FCA) is also organizing a free checkup camp which started on 5th of October and will continue till 17th. Fiat customers can get to the nearest dealership for getting their cars checked. In the check up camp, the service person will advise the owner if any repair is needed or replacement is required. The carmaker will offer a ten percent discount on the charges and also get a complimentary free car wash.
