End trade licence raj, urges industry body

BENGALURU:The industrial sector has made a strong pitch for total abolition of trade licence system, restoration of earlier system of providing land on lease-cum-sale basis and dropping the proposal for revision of guidance value of land in its wish list to improve the ease of doing business in the state.

A delegation of Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI), Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) and other trade and industrial associations, which met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Friday, presented a charter of demands to incorporate in his forthcoming budget which will be presented in mid-March.
Last year, the state government abolished trade licence for MSMEs within the jurisdiction of corporations and municipalities. This should be extended to all MSMEs across the state, including in rural areas, FKCCI president M C Dinesh demanded.
