Gang attacks 2 drivers with weapons, kills 1

BENGALURU: A gang of unidentified men attacked two drivers with weapons, killing one of them on the spot, in Yelahanka on Friday. Police suspect old rivalry to be a motive behind the attack, and prime suspect Balaraj is still at large.

The deceased Muniyappa, (36) was a resident of Someshwaranagar and was an auto driver. The injured Rafiq (22), a cab driver, was critically injured and shifted to NIMHANS.
According to the police, the incident took place around 6.30 when the gang came on two-wheelers and attacked them with machetes and swords. Muniyappa died on the spot and Rafiq was shifted to a nearby hospital and later to NIMHANS.

Yelahanka Upanagar police have formed a special team to nab the assailants. A senior police officer said Balaraj recently had a quarrel with Muniyappa over cricket betting. Muniyappa had abused Balaraj, who later came with his friends and attacked the duo.
