BENGALURU: Bengaluru Development Minister K J George came down hard on hotels on Commercial Street on Friday for discharging waste into a storm water drain.
During inspection of developmental works, a visibly angry George directed officials to issue notices to all the hotels to stop the discharge, failing which, he ordered that the hotels be shutdown.

George told BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad to have the unauthorised advertisement hoardings in Shivajinagar ward removed without any fear. The Commissioner in turn warned shopkeepers to have the hoardings removed, failing which, they would be removed by the BBMP.

In Bharti Nagar, the minister inspected a school from where he had received reports of students dropping out due to its dilapidated condition, and said a new building would be built. He also assured that renovation of a maternity hospital and a community hall on Thimmiah Road would be taken up in a month.
