BENGALURU: The Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has opposed the proposed amendments to the Karnataka State Universities (KSU) Act, 2000.

The proposed amendments are expected to be placed before the ongoing Assembly and Council sessions.
ABVP national general secretary Vinay Bidre said, “The government is trying to take complete control over universities by bringing in these amendments which will not be accepted. And if this is passed in the Assembly and Council, we will stage state-wide protests.”

Some of the major amendments proposed by the government will cut down the powers of the Governor, who is the Chancellor of state universities, he said.
