11 Women conquer the world's highest road on 110 cc scooters

CHENNAI:  Eleven women, on a bike ride through some of the most treacherous terrains in India — the Himalayan Highs Season 2 has concluded successfully.

All eleven were on the TVS Scooty Zest 110 and navigated the world’s highest motorable road – Khardung La. The biking trip was led by Anam Hashim, the solo rider of Himalayan Highs Season 1, and has earned itself a place in the India Book of Records for being the first group of women riders to conquer Khardung La on a 110cc scooter.

“It wasn’t an easy ride to the top as our mental and physical fitness was put to the test with the unpredictable weather and harsh environment,” said Hashim, narrating the experience of driving from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, on August 11 to successfully scaling 18,340 feet on scooters to reach Khardung La.

The 10 other riders on the trip were Megha Chakraborty (Bilaspur), Kainoor Mistry (Mumbai), Roshni Somkuwar (Nagpur), Garima Kapoor (Lucknow), Ebronah Dorothy (Chennai), Pallavi Fauzdar (Delhi), Antara Pal (Bengaluru), Trupti Sarmalkar (Mumbai), Surbhi Tiwari (Bengaluru) and Shruthi Naidu (Bengaluru).

Aniruddha Haldar, VP – Marketing (Scooters), TVS Motor Company, said, “This month has been a month of highs for the Indian women across the globe and we are happy our riders have also earned glory.  These 11 are an example of new age Indian women and an inspiration to those who want to pursue their dreams.”
