Air India Express launches services on Coimbatore-Delhi-Singapore

MUMBAI: Air India Express today announced the launch of a flight service to Coimbatore from New Delhi, with onward connection to Singapore, from next month.

The services on the Delhi-Coimbatore-Singapore route will be operated three times a week -- Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays -- from November 18, the international budget arm of the state-owned Air India said in a release.

The new services between Delhi and Coimbatore and further to Singapore will now offer more choices to the people from the textile hub in Tamil Nadu, who till now had limited options while flying to both the national capital and the South-east Asia, particularly the island city-state.

AIE already operates from three cities of Tamil Nadu and Coimbatore will be the fourth city in its route network.

Besides a daily operations from Chennai to Singapore, the airline also operate a daily service from Tiruchirappalli and a four-times-a-week services to Singapore.

The new additions in operations from Coimbatore will provide more choice of flights for the passengers to fly to Singapore from Tamil Nadu, it said.

At present, AIE operates to 16 Indian cities and 13 international airports with a fleet of 23 Boeing 737-800 planes.

Of these planes, 17 are owned by the airline, while the rest are on dry lease.
