BANGALORE: The counselling for PG medical seats concluded on Friday, with all seats under the general merit category allotted. At the start of the day 101 MD seats were available, while at the end of the day only one seat under Christian Minority quota was left. On the first day of counselling one student was caught for producing colour photocopies as originals, but Friday did not see any complaints.

On Thursday, a vigilant group sent some candidates out from the counselling session who had already been allotted seats through the all India quota or those who had taken admissions in deemed universities. The situation turned ugly at times, when candidates were pushed and shooed away by the group. There have been allegations of colleges being hand in glove with agents, who target top ranked students to block seats, with the intention of withdrawing at the last moment. Meanwhile the one man regulatory committee headed by former vice-chancellor of Bangalore University Prof N R Shetty has issued instructions to colleges to fax the details of students admitted in the first round before 5 pm on April 24. A similar report is to be also sent after the second round of counselling, along with the list of candidates who have reported and not reported. Any college wanting to fill up seats surrendered after the second round of counselling has to get prior approval of the oneman committee. Moreover, candidates who weren’t allotted any seat after the second round can register with COMED-K to be considered for allotment.Counselling for dental PG seats will be held on Saturday.
