BANGALORE: Amidst absence of several BJP MLAs, Honnali MLA MP Renukacharya took oath as Minister in the Yeddyurappa Cabinet on Thursday.

He has been given excise portfolio which was held by BWSSB Minister KattaSubramanya Naidu till now.

Governor H R Bharadwaj administered the oath of office to Renukacharya in the presence of Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa at a simple function held at the Raj Bhavan.

Renukacharya took oath in the name of God, his parents and people of Honnali constituency.

Of the 18 BJP MLAs from Bangalore city, no one attended the oathtaking ceremony as they are unhappy with the induction of Renukacharya into the Cabinet.

BJP state president D V Sadanand Gowda was also conspicuous by his absence.
