BANGALORE: A beautiful waterfall near Yellapur in North Canara district has been drawing people from across the state. Magod falls is a treat for nature lovers.

It is normally referred to as Twin Falls, as it falls in two-three steps. Originating at Kalaghatagi in Dharwad district as a small stream, it falls from the Bedti river from a height of 137 metres in Magod village.

The falls is in the midst of Arebailu Ghat, with picturesque Jenukallu Gudda nearby, a mountain with many beehives.

“Unless you are a poet, one can’t explain the beauty of these falls,” says Dr HS Malli, a nature lover from Kundapura.

He advises visitors to seek the help of villagers to reach the spot.

HOW TO REACH?

Around 17 km from Yellapur. Take a deviation to the left after around 5 km on the way to Ankola on Ankola- Hubli NH 63. The road is good. To reach the bottom of the waterfalls, take a deviation after around 10 km. On the way to the falls you will come across Kavade Kere, a lake spanning around 60 acres.
