Verbattle Junior, the biggest annual event of Verbattle for school children in the age group of 12 to 16 years, will conclude on November 20, with 81 teams participating in the state-level debates. The competition will be held in the city from November 18-20.

The first stage of the competition, the Zonal Rounds, were held in the three zone centres, namely; Mangalore, Hubli and Bangalore.

The teams were selected from the three zones for the state level debates.

Over 500 children participated from about 100 schools across the state this year. The winning team in Verbattle Junior will get a cash prize of `one lakh. The two other finalist teams will be awarded with `10,000 each.

Founder of Verbattle, Deepak Thimaya said that if our country’s democracy needs to be stronger and vibrant in the future, our children should cultivate the habit of responsible and meaningful debating.

Verbattle has plans to start activities in other states along with its major plan of going national this year.
