BANGALORE: The KSRP constable Srikantappa (49), who fell from a tree while cutting its branches and died on Monday, had recently been deputed for orderly duties at Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) police quarters in Koramangala.

He had requested the department to depute him for orderly duty because his mother Tulasamma and wife Manjula were ailing.

Srikantappa joined the police service in 1993 and lived in Narmada Block of KSRP police quarters in Koramangala since 2005.

His mother Tulasamma was to undergo an eye surgery, while his wife was also ill from a few months.

The doctors had reportedly said she too needed an operation.

Krishnappa was sent on orderly duty to KSRP Inspector Kushalappa's house on the same premises.

Kushalappa is in chief minister's escort team and Srikantappa had started working at his residence from November 15.

"He started his day with carrying milk to the Inspector's house and did household works there," said his wife.

"He was asked to wash clothes which he refused," Manjula said

She said though her husband never complained against Kushalappa, he reportedly told her that the inspector's wife forced him to do a lot of work.

On Tuesday, Srikantappa's last rites were conducted at his village in Hassan district.
