BANGALORE: Dr Sharan Shivaraj Patil of Sparsh Hospital is all set to launch super speciality hospital this week.

The hospital will be treating with five areas of medicine: Revision joint replacement, cerebral palsy, spine/backache, sports medicine, and limb construction.

Dr Patil spoke to TNIE about his vision for the hospital and the need for a super speciality hospital. He said, "Joint pains are often neglected in comparison to heart diseases. But arthritis impedes every movement and makes life painful. So, it is important for people to realise they can live a painfree life."

He further added, "If knee replacement surgery is specialised then undoing the damage can be done by even fewer doctors in the country. We can't have doctors dealing with accidents, fractures and kneereplacement. Each is a speciality. Hence, a team of specialists are coming in from US, UK and Germany to work here."

Importance is also given to a often neglected aspect nursing. "On an average, 25 nurses leave for better opportunities abroad after working here for a few months.

As a doctor, it is not my duty to train the nurses. Hence, we have brought in nurses from UK, who will train nurses here.

If patients still think the facility is unreachable, they can reach out to Sparsh.
