BANGALORE: Nine people, including a woman who had acted in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies, have been arrested on prostitution charges, police said Friday.

The arrested include a senior official of a software firm, Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters here. He declined to give details about this official, saying the investigation is on.

Bidari said they had a tip-off from Andhra Pradesh police three months ago about a prostitution racket involving the actress.

"We were gathering information and learned that the actress and several others were in ITC Royal Gardenia (an upscale hotel in the heart of Bangalore), raided the place late Thursday and arrested nine people," he said.
